You can spend cash on extra damage taking ability, or you can save up for some nasty power ups and eventually some assistants to help you take on the horde. As you work through the levels, dodging bullets and enemies while annihilating them with your own, perfection results in your bank account slowly crawling up.
ULTRATRON REVIEWS XBOX ONE UPGRADE
Utilizing the same upgrade chain as Titan Attacks, where there is a risk versus reward system, this game manages to apply some fresh gameplay ideas to the tried-and-true formula. As the last functional robot on Earth after humankind has been obliterated by aliens, the only thing left for you is revenge. Name similarities aside, this twin-stick shooter offers the same style of addictive, hair-trigger gameplay as it's spiritual predecessor. If Titan Attacks was Space Invaders, Ultratron is Robotron.

Both games I have played (Titan Attacks and Ultratron) not only have a classic game feel, they even put in filters that make your classic television look like an oldschool retro arcade machine, complete with scanlines and the occasional rolling picture. In regards to its own merit, it is a refreshing example of the bullet-hell genre and all the colorful, vibrant robot slaughter should not be overlooked. From what I've seen so far, Puppygames has a thing for classic gameplay. Overall, Ultratron is at least worth the money if used as a breather from your time with The Witcher 3.
ULTRATRON REVIEWS XBOX ONE PS4
Indie Games PS4 PC Xbox One Nintendo Switch Nintendo 3DS PS Vita PS3. This is really just padding though, and one of the main reasons that this game is excellent for prepping you between game excursions. Well then get ready for Ultratron, that retro gaming experience you need to play. After doing some research, the levels just get incrementally more difficult and repeat on the basis of the first 40 levels, although they mesh the boss fights together to make up for the difficulty. GA: I feel the need to say this up front, since it would be awfully easy to mistake one for. After beating the first 40 and having the game tell me that I had avenged the human race, it just let me keep going. Ultratron review for PS Vita, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U Gaming Age. Ultratron technically has seemingly limitless levels. This also presents a problem, as (at least I found) you end up spending most of your earnings on shield recharges and don’t get to make any substantial upgrades to your robot. Experience the addictive gameplay of old-school arcade favourites, updated for the 21st century, with unique upgrades, player responsive difficulty, and a subtle system of tactics combined with classic gameplay. You are the one remaining humanoid battle droid. The beefy upgrade screen, for all your “pew-pew” needs.īecause you don’t really have a lives system, you instead have shields that offer the absorption of a single hit each, and small droids that assist you in battle that can take a hit or two for you as well. Ultratron experience the addictive gameplay of old-school arcade favourites. Past that, you, and thanks to this newer version, a co-op partner can spend hours “pew pew pew-ing” to your hearts’ content, with the thumping of the retro bassline highlighting it all. Going for about $10, (the price was a tad lower for PS+ members), the game’s sliver of backstory exists solely to give you a platform to stand on as you mow down hundreds of robots in the name of vengeance.Įssentially, you’re given this: robots are bad, they killed every human and your brain has been implanted in an upgradeable battle droid. Ultratron is an old-school arcade style twin-stick shooter. So now my gaming embarrassment is out there lets get into the review. I have had this game since release, so as you can tell this review has taken me awhile to write up.

ULTRATRON REVIEWS XBOX ONE PS3
Originally released on Steam in 2013, Ultratron made its way to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita earlier this month. Ultratron is out now on Xbox One and is priced at £7.99. Ultratron, an “old-school arena style” bullet-hell shooter by Puppy Games, could very well be one of the better examples of a palate cleanser. For many that I know, small, relatively mindless games, help cleanse the palate and allow for you to sort of set yourself on level ground as you switch from game to game. Sometimes, in the world of gaming, it can be hard to find a way to balance all of the games you’ve promised yourself you’d beat, but just can’t find the conviction.
